Monday to Wednesday this week had the vibe of a servo at 2am — quiet, a bit sus, everyone waiting for something to happen. Bitcoin was stuck grinding under $65,000 and the altcoin market was under broad pressure. Then Friday's US jobs report landed a lot worse than expected — the economy shed 23,000 jobs in July against forecasts for growth — and instead of everyone panicking, traders decided that a weak jobs print means the Fed's less likely to keep rates high. Risk-on switched back on: BTC reclaimed $65,000 to close the week near $64,736 (+2.15%), ETH pushed back toward $1,912 (+2.03%), and the total crypto market cap held around $2.31 trillion with Bitcoin dominance at 56.6%. The Fear & Greed Index nudged up to 31 — still "Fear," but the least fearful the week had looked.
The other headline belongs nowhere near a price chart. A five-year-old firmware bug in Coinkite's Coldcard hardware wallet — dating back to a March 2021 build that quietly fell back on weak software randomness instead of the device's proper hardware entropy source — turned into a live, ongoing theft. Four separate waves have hit over 5,200 addresses, draining roughly 1,816 BTC (~$116 million) from wallets whose owners thought "cold storage" meant "untouchable." It's the third-biggest hack of 2026, and it pushes this year's running total past $1.2 billion across 276 incidents — more than any full prior year on record. And if you were holding your breath for the CLARITY Act to finally sort out who regulates what in crypto — today, 10 August, was meant to be the deadline everyone circled. It came and went with no Senate floor vote, four working days burned on a cloture motion that went nowhere, and analysts now pricing the odds of it passing in 2026 at around 30%. September's the new "final" deadline. We've heard that one before.
The coins that put a smile on somebody's dial this week:
| # | Coin | Price | Move | Poida's take |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | BICO (Biconomy) | $0.0526 | +126% | New perp listing, 50x leverage, zero trading fees. That's not a rally, that's a fireworks factory next to a barbecue. |
| 2 | TUT (Tutorial) | $0.0452 | +62% | Aster DEX bolted 5x leverage onto it and triggered a short squeeze. A $37M coin trading $67M in a day — hold onto your snags. |
| 3 | ZRO (LayerZero) | $0.827 | +18.7% | An actual cross-chain infrastructure project, quietly having a good week without needing a leverage casino to do it. |
| 4 | BSV (Bitcoin SV) | $14.88 | +13% | The forked-off-a-fork coin claws back some ground. Still miles under where it's been before. |
| 5 | CRV (Curve DAO) | $0.21 | +12.2% | DeFi's stablecoin-swap plumbing gets a bit of love. Boring in a good way. |
Pour one out — then check none of them are sitting in your portfolio without a stop (Chapter 4 exists for a reason):
| # | Coin | Price | Move | Poida's take |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | UAI (UnifAI Network) | $0.26 | −41% | Whale concentration and thin volume finally caught up with the AI-hype rally. Excitement's not a fundamentals report. |
| 2 | KAITO | $0.70 | −39.9% | A 32.6M-token unlock landing August 20 has traders selling the news three weeks early. |
| 3 | CC (Canton) | $0.088 | −13.5% | Broad selling across privacy tokens. Nothing personal, just bad timing to be in that lane this week. |
| 4 | BEAT (Audiera) | $1.93 | −10% | Last issue's #3 winner is this issue's loser. Profit-taking after a rally is the market's version of "settle down." |
| 5 | ONDO (Ondo) | $0.35 | −8.5% | Real-world-asset tokenisation is the story everyone loves; this week the price didn't want to hear it. |
Not tips. Not targets. Just three established, still-heavily-used networks trading a long way below their best days — the kind of thing a Chapter 6 DCA-and-hold Boganster researches while everyone else doom-scrolls. Do your own research, size by the 2% rule, and remember: cheap can always get cheaper.
Firmed up right alongside Bitcoin on Friday's weak jobs data, and it's still the road every other DeFi, stablecoin and NFT shop is built on top of. Yet it sits at under half its 2021 all-time high near $4,900. Fee compression and L2 competition are real risks — but the usage hasn't gone anywhere, only the price has moved.
Just posted a fresh all-time high in network activity — over 1 billion transactions in a single week, plus roughly 82-95% of all tokenized-equity trading volume across every blockchain — while the price sits nowhere near its old highs near $260. When the usage chart is setting records and the price chart isn't, that gap is exactly what "worth a look" means.
Been consolidating quietly in the $8-9 range for weeks while still doing the unglamorous job of feeding price data to most of DeFi. Still sitting well under its 2021 high near $52. Nobody's bragging about their LINK bag at the pub, and that's usually when the boring stuff is worth a second look.
